Here we have a very cool and awesome Fender Strat''Relic series''this is the 1966 model. The 66 Strat has a couple cool features like the Big Headstock and Bold and Gold logo. The 66 neck profile is a Full C Shape with a 7.25 radius and Vintage Frets. This one is reliced nicely with all the typical symptoms of a relic: fretboard wear, gouges, dings and some dents. The pickups are slightly under-wound, Custom Shop ’66 pickups that sound bell-like and chimey. This is a very nice, period correct Stratocaster with a 69 U shaped neck, 7.25 radius and Vintage fretwire. The pickups are the glassiest, most bell-like and chimey you’ll find from Fender. During the late 60’s the pickups were being drastically underwound from prior years. The pickups made the guitars sound more open and sparkly and a bit raspier when gained out. In 1969, Fender was also making the Oversized Headstock with the Black n’ Bold Logo. The Maple neck features Black Dots with period correct spacing. Handcrafted at the Fender Custom Shop, each Relic instrument undergoes a unique "aging" process, resulting in a new instrument with the comfortable playing feel and look of a vintage guitar.
The Relic 60's Stratocaster captures the true vintage feel and tone by combining a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard maple neck, vintage style tremolo bridge, vintage style tuning machines and specially wound Custom 60's pickups. Inside and out, the '60 Stratocaster Relic guitar is a detailed recreation of its Kennedy-era ancestor.

It features an alder body, '60s C-shaped maple neck, and—for the first time in its history—a smaller truss rod and slab laminated rosewood fingerboard with clay dot markers. The pickup design is faithful to the original right down to the materials and winding, producing a characteristically smooth and glassy tone. Under the hood, we've even replicated the finish undercoating and the crude pickup-wiring routing in the body.

This guitar has been given Fender's "Relic" treatment—built to show years of natural wear and tear; with nicks, scratches, worn finish, rusty hardware and aged plastic parts.
To distinguish the Relic Series' Custom Shop origins, the word "Relic" appears on the body under the neckplate. The Fender Custom Shop logo is also imbedded into the wood on the back of the headstock as well as under the pickguard on the body of each instrument.

It's been given Fender's "relic" treatment, complete with artificial dings, scratches, nicks, and tarnishing. This wear gives the guitar an amazing vintage vibe.

he sold it to a employee for Digitech,and so came in possesion of customer who traded it in with me.
this guitar did undergo some changes,its been heavey relict by well known German Builder Herbert Muller.
also the angle of the neck body changed to the specs of previous owner its now a better playing guitar then before
the finish on the back of the neck is removed,its baby smooth now,the guitar is refretted with Big Dunlops 6115,makes it play easier with heavier gauge.
the second tone control work now on the bridge pickup,there sometimes these are just too bright,now you can adjust the tone.
all the work the builder did is captured on pictures and put on a cd,which is with the guitar.
its a wonderful playing ,looking and sounding guitar,hardtail which is better for sustain too.
