Squier/Fender JV Stratocaster Contemporary Vintage
1983/84 Japan

Here we have a very nice 1983/84 build JV(Japan Vintage) Contemporary Stratocaster. The Contemporary series were only build for the Japanese domestic market and never meant to be build as export guitars. It`s well known that the better JV guitars stayed in Japan.  This is a very rare JV model with 2 Humbuckers configuration, 1 tone and 1 volume knob and a 5 way switch. This baby sounds awesome, all the Std Stratocaster sounds are there, but when the Humbuckers are selected it gives you a warm full sound too. A very versatile guitar. All the hardware is black, tuners and bridge, has a mirror pick guard which looks cool too. Finished in all black this looks great,it sounds and plays great.  The contemporary JV's are harder to find then the regular JV series, due they never meant to be exported out of Japan. This is pure craftsmanship from the early 80's Japan. Going up in value too and will become collectors. This 23 year old beauty is a good example of it. It comes including a gigbag.  Price: €700.

Squier/Fender JV Contemporary Series Vintage
White 1983/84

Here we have a very nice 1983/84 build JV (Japan Vintage) Contemporary Stratocaster. The Contemporary series were only build for the Japanese Domestic market and never meant to be build as export guitars. It`s well known that the better JV guitars stayed in Japan. This is a very rare JV. It`s one of the most expensive models build way back in 83/84, as can be seen on the back head stock as it has the blue 90 sticker. This means it had a price of 90.000 yen way back then.  This guitar is finished in Vintage White, even the back of the neck and the head stock. Also this features a locking tremolo and locking nut with fine tuners on it. But after 23 years the fine tuners do not turn easy by hand, with a wrench no problem, but I think it`s supposed to be done by hand. It keeps the guitar well in tune. The gold hardware of course is tarnished through the years too, but gives it a nice vintage look. Further this ax has the 3 single coils, the sounds great, position 2 and 4 currently wired different so that the sound is more thin for funky sounds. It can easily turn back. It plays just wonderfull set up with a 010 set of D áddarios. The JV Squires are going up fast in value, these Contemporary series are even harder to find then the regulars. It comes including a gigbag.

The single-coil Tex-Mex pickups in the neck and middle positions, and extra-hot Tex-Mex pickup with special wiring in the bridge position, stir in tones with just the right amount of southwestern spice and rattlesnake bite.  Please click the link for more info                  Price: €750.

Fender Telecaster Thinline HMT Heavy Metal Telecaster

Here we have a HMT Telecaster Made in Japan late 80' beginning 90's. This model features a Lace sensor silver pickup in the neck and a Dimarzio Humbucker in the bridge. Also this model has the Kahler tremelo and a locking nut. Shark tooth inlay on the rosewood neck and the well known 80's hockey stick headstock. The body is finished in Metallic red, has the Thineline body, this guitar plays as smooth as can be, very low action and a fast neck. The sound is awesome the Dimarzio rocks, while the Lace sensor sounds warm and full in the neck position. These rare Thinlines are hard to get and only made for a limited time. It comes including a hard shell case.  The H.M.T. (Heavy Metal Telecasters) were available in the late 1980s/early 1990s. Models include the 2 DiMarzio humbucker Model 25-2100, Blue Fender-Lace Sensor single coil Model 25-2200, and piezo bridge/Silver Fender-Lace Sensor Model 25-2300. Future research continues on the H.M.T. Telecaster models.  Price: €550.

Fender Telecaster Thinline HMT

This is another Fender HMT Telecaster from late 80's or the beginning of the 90's. These are Japan made Tele's and as we know Japan made very good Fenders that time. This is the HMT which shows the Silver Lace sensor in the neck and a Piezo pickup under the saddle. Now this guitar really can sound like an acoustic when played over a good amp, the Lace sensor pickup bring a warm and smooth sound you can also combine both pickups together. The playability is awesome with a very smooth neck. The body is a Thinline finished in a beautiful kind of see through red, black headstock. Fender neckplate with USA is on it, don't know for sure what that means, maybe partially build or parts from the USA. This guitar will do fine in most musical styles, a true Fender build in Japan. It comes including a black hardshell case. This guitar is in a very good condition.  H.M.T. (Heavy Metal Telecasters) were available in the late 1980s/early 1990s. Models include the 2 DiMarzio humbucker Model 25-2100, Blue Fender-Lace Sensor single coil Model 25-2200, and piezo bridge/Silver Fender-Lace Sensor Model 25-2300. Future research continues on the H.M.T  Price: €550.

Fender/Squier Pro Tone Stratocaster

Finished in olympic white with a matching headstock, tortoise pickguard. The guitar plays wonderful and the sound is great. Inc gigbag.  The following models are based on Fender´s Stratocaster design, and all have an offset double cutaway body, bolt-on maple neck, 6-on-a-side tuners, chrome hardware, 3 single coil pickups, volume/2 tone controls, and 5-way selector (unless otherwise listed).  Pro Tone Stratocaster (Model 033-2600) - ash body, 21-fret rosewood fingerboard with white dot inlay, chrome hardware, red shell pickguard. In 1981, Fender-CBS hired William (Bill) Schultz, John McLaren, and Dan Smith away from the U.S. division of Yamaha. Schultz became the president of Fender-CBS, McLaren the managing director, and Smith was appointed the director of marketing for Fender electric guitars.
In an effort to improve Fender's market position, Smith orchestrated a revamping of the basic production model Stratocaster and by late 1981 the new model was introduced as the Standard Stratocaster. It featured a more accurate version of the pre-CBS smaller headstock (compared to the 1980 "Strat"); a four bolt neck plate; the somewhat "hotter" X-1 pickup (introduced in the 1980 "Strat" model) in the bridge position; and, a body end truss rod adjustment (no bullet). What it did retain from its predecessor was the 70s-style headstock decal. Otherwise, the 1981 Standard Stratocaster signaled the end of the CBS 70s style Stratocaster.
The "Smith Standard Stratocaster" was produced faithfully from 1981until early 1983, when for some reason the jack plug was moved to the lower tone knob position on the pick guard (what?!).
So, it's only those limited number of Fender's produced from 1981 to early 1983 that were the first version of the Standard Stratocaster that have come to be known on the street (and in third party literature) as the "Dan Smith Stratocaster". You won't see Smith's name on the headstock, or anywhere else on the instrument, but it's only fitting that Stratocaster enthusiasts have dubbed this model the "Smith Strat" in homage to the man who brought about such welcomed changes in the Stratocaster, and who, along with George Blanda and the FMIC team, would play an integral role in the creation of the 1987 American Standard.
